Privacy Policy

What this site does and doesn’t collect. The short version: very little.

Effective date: October 24, 2026

Summary

Check My Card is a reading website. You can use all of it without creating an account, filling in a form or handing over any information about yourself.

We do not check, validate or process cards, so we have no reason to see card details — and nothing on this site lets you enter them.

Information we collect

Server logs. Like most websites, the server that delivers our pages records routine technical details of each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the browser type and the referring page. This is used to keep the site secure and working, and is kept by our hosting provider only as long as needed for that purpose.

Messages. If you contact us through a channel listed on the Contact page, we receive the details you choose to include in your message.

Information we do not collect

This site does not ask for, receive or store:

  • card numbers, expiry dates, CVV/CVC codes or PINs
  • gift-card numbers or codes
  • account numbers, passwords or login credentials
  • billing or payment details of any kind

Please never send any of this to us, by any route. We cannot use it, and we would delete it.

The website checklist

The checklist on the Check a Website page works entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us and are not stored; they disappear when you leave or reload the page. The search box works the same way — it looks through our guides on your own device.

How information is used

Server logs are used for security and troubleshooting. Messages are used to respond and, where relevant, to improve or correct a guide. We do not use information for advertising, profiling or sale.

Cookies and tracking

The site does not set cookies and has no analytics or advertising trackers. More detail is in the Cookie Policy.

Third parties and external links

Our hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf. Some guides link to outside sources, such as consumer protection agencies. When you follow a link you leave this site, and the other site’s own privacy practices apply.

Your choices

Because we hold almost no personal information, there is usually little to access or delete. If you have sent us a message and want it removed, or have any privacy question, use the Contact page and we will deal with it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add analytics, advertising, accounts or forms, we will update this policy and the Cookie Policy before they go live. The date above shows when this version took effect.
