About

About Check My Card

An independently operated educational website about card safety, official websites, billing information and scams.

Why Check My Card exists

Every day, people search for phrases like “check my card”, “gift card balance” or “card checker”. Many of them land on pages that look helpful but exist to collect card numbers, security codes and gift-card codes.

Check My Card exists to help people avoid entering sensitive card information into the wrong websites.

We chose a name that matches what people search for, so that we can reach them before they type anything into an unfamiliar page — and explain, clearly and immediately, that the safest place to check a card is the official channel printed on the card itself.

Our mission

To make “check the website first” a habit. We want anyone, regardless of technical background, to be able to tell an official card or gift-card service from an imitation, understand what billing information is for, and know what to do when something goes wrong.

What we help with

  • Finding the official website or phone number for a card or gift card
  • Recognizing fake card-checker, balance-check and support pages
  • Reading web addresses and spotting lookalike domains
  • Understanding billing information and address verification
  • Safer online checkout habits
  • Calm next steps after a scam or phishing attempt

What we are

An independently operated educational website. It publishes guides and an interactive checklist, and has no accounts, no payment features and no card-related input fields of any kind.

What we are not

  • A bank, financial institution or card issuer
  • A payment processor or card network
  • A gift-card issuer, seller or program manager
  • An official card verification or balance-check service
  • Visa, Mastercard, Vanilla Gift, GiftCardMall, MyGiftCardMall or any other brand
  • A source of financial, legal or investment advice

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any company we write about. Brand names appear only where they help readers find the right official service.

How our guides are created

Guides are written from public sources such as consumer protection agencies and industry standards bodies, and focus on practical, defensive advice. The full process — including how AI-assisted drafting is used and what review a guide has had — is in our Editorial Policy.

Editorial independence

No company can pay to appear in, change or remove a guide. If advertising or affiliate links are ever added, they will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial content, and they will never be for card-checking services.

Corrections

If you find an error, please tell us. We fix confirmed errors promptly and note significant changes. See our Corrections Policy.

Contact

Feedback, corrections and accessibility reports go through the Contact page. Please never send card numbers, gift card codes, CVVs, PINs, passwords or other sensitive details. We will never ask for them, and we can’t help with individual card accounts.
