Accessibility
How we try to make this site usable for everyone, and how to tell us when we fall short.
Our commitment
Safety information is only useful if people can read it. We want Check My Card to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever device, assistive technology or ability they bring, and we use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as our reference when making design choices. We haven’t had the site formally audited or certified, and we don’t claim a conformance level.
Structure and navigation
- Pages use semantic headings, landmarks and lists, and every page starts with a “Skip to content” link.
- Guides have a table of contents and breadcrumbs, and links say where they go.
- Menus, the search dialog, the checklist and the question-and-answer sections work with a keyboard and announce their state to screen readers.
Keyboard use and focus
Every control can be reached and operated without a mouse, in a logical order. The current focus is always clearly outlined. Pressing / opens search from anywhere on the site, and Esc closes menus and dialogs.
Text, color and contrast
Text is set at a comfortable size and line length, scales with your browser’s zoom and text-size settings, and uses high-contrast colors. Meaning is never conveyed by color alone — warnings and results are also labeled in words and icons.
Layout and motion
Pages reflow from small phones to large monitors without sideways scrolling. Animation is kept to subtle transitions, and it is switched off if your device is set to reduce motion. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.
Accessibility feedback
If something on the site is hard to use, or you have a suggestion, tell us through the Contact page and mention the page and what happened. We take accessibility reports seriously and will fix verified problems.
